Nature has always been an important part of Kaye’s life, having the good fortune to grow up on a working cattle ranch and continuing that way of life on her family’s ranch, Lazy 77 Ranch, near Manning, ND, where they raise red and black angus cattle and have working Quarter Horses. In this environment roam the animals, especially horses, which Kaye loves to paint.

“I try to share a greater appreciation for subtlety within the larger world around us, and a respect for all living things. An intimate understanding and appreciation of the surroundings are essential and can only be obtained by interaction with moth animals and environments,” she says.

Her work concentrates on how light reveals objects and animals through shadow and color. “Equine images are one of my may favorite subjects as sound and movement enter into the peacefulness of their surroundings, which I try to capture in paint on canvas.”

“My paintings serve their purpose when you view them and share discovery of things we forget to notice. I hope my images bring you the enjoyment and fascination that can come from meeting and loving life in all its forms. If my paintings bring any little joy or pleasure to the viewers, I think that the purpose of my painting is met.”
